My First Weitzman's

Tonight Nana and JP stopped by our
house for a quick visit. Nana surprised
Haylee (and me!) with her first pair of
Stuart Weitzman shoes....and I am pretty
sure once Haylee is out of the children's shoe
sizes, Nana won't be investing in any adult
sized S. Weitzman's for Haylee since his
shoes cost a pretty penny!
Anyways--these little My First Weitzman's
are adorable and Haylee is such a shoe
diva at the ripe age of ONE! ha!

Gnocchi & Peek-A-Boo

Last night I made gnocchi for Haylee.
At first she looked at it intensely for
about 5 minutes...then after mommy
showed her it was yummy,
she cleaned her plate!

Saturday morning after breakfast, Haylee found the
curtain in our bedroom. She was having
a good time playing peek-a-boo with
herself....(wearing her backpack too!)
It was so cute to see her play so I captured
a few pics on the cam.

Serious Bedhead Hair!

Last weekend Haylee woke up sporting
some CRAZY hair! Chris and I couldn't
stop laughing, so of course I had
to get the camera.....Needless to say-
we have her 1st haircut scheduled for
January 30th!

Big Girl Transitions....

So, introducing milk to Haylee presented some challenges the past 10 days! Plus we are working to reduce the number of bottles she gets during the day and swap them with sippy cups....

Haylee's little belly did not tolerate cow's milk and by day 3 of it she had tons of loose stools (if your a mommy--you know the kind that goes up the back out of the diaper....YUCK!).

Last Saturday we tried soy milk instead....thought it helped for a day, but then diarrhea again! As a 3rd option we tried the Enfagrow Next Step formula for 10-36 month olds and she refused to drink it (even when we tried mixing it with her reg. infant formula too!).....Which I don't blame her....formula stinks!

In short, we have decided to go back to her infant formula during the day and she is trying to learn that if she wants liquid she has to take it from her sippy cups during the day. Right now we are down to 2 bottles (morning & bedtime) so hopefully we can be bottle free in the next month or so! The bedtime bottle will be the hardest and last to go. Then maybe we can try soy milk again in the future! Or almond milk, or rice milk....the options seem unlimited!!!

Bottom line--parenthood can be challenging at times....I am trying my best to remain calm (for you all that know me...that is another obstacle in itself!) and know that Haylee, Christian and I will find a happy medium and get our little girl optimal nutrition any way that it takes!

The battle continues...

The healthy goals 2010 battle continues....
1/2 donut this morning for breakfast....but Smart Ones frozen entree for lunch today

On a side note: WOW, the snow is here! Wishing everyone warm wishes!

Apple a Day

WOW, 2010 is here! So one of my 2010 goals is to become more healthy.....
Many of you ask me--"how can that be... afterall you are a dietitian and you look great?"

I have been slacking on the activity and the healthy eating plus my appetite since October has gone wild (no I am NOT pregnant but yet my appetite seems to think so!)
I want to tone up my body, not necessarily lose weight, just tone...(I am a secret snacker and graizer of junk food--and that has got to STOP!)

So... today I am proud to report that I chose to eat my apple instead of giving into the cheese puffs in our breakroom! One healthy choice down....many more to go!

:)
Wishing everyone a happy, healthy 2010!!!!

Natures Voice Photography

My good friend Ashleigh is a great photographer & she is also a dietitian who works with me at the VA. She graciously took Haylee's 7 month pictures this past July 2009 at Faust Park in St. Louis. Yesterday Ashleigh came to our house to take some casual, action pics of Haylee playing in her birthday outfit....you can check out a sneak preview of Haylee's birthday pics (2 weeks late!) on Ash's blog at
http://www.naturesvoicephoto.blogspot.com/

If anyone is looking for a great, local photographer, please contact her!

Thanks again Ash!

Haylee got a huge catepillar from my cousin

so she could snuggle her new stuffie!
